U.D.O. Unleashes Electrifying ‘Touchdown’ Music Video: A Fusion of Football and Heavy Metal!
Get ready, get set, WATCH! Amidst the summer festival activities, and following a thrilling musical sneak peek with ‘Forever Free,’ the iconic German heavy metal group U.D.O. – fronted by singer Udo Dirkschneider and featuring his son Sven on drums, guitar duo Andrey Smirnov and Fabian Dee Dammers, along with bassist Peter Baltes – has returned with an electrifying music video for the title track of their upcoming studio album “Touchdown,” set to be released on August 25, 2023, via Atomic Fire Records. Musically, ‘Touchdown’ kicks off with a rapid pace, culminating in an epic stadium-worthy chorus, ready to be chanted by fans, further enhanced by a fitting violin solo courtesy of Stefan Pintev. The said music video doesn’t fall behind and brilliantly merges the worlds of football and heavy metal.
Sven recalls: “The song and the album title started taking shape when we were sitting in a sports bar in São Paulo [Brazil], where a football match was on. The word that kept echoing through the speakers and stuck in our minds was simply ‘Touchdown.’ That’s why my dad [Udo] suggested it should be the name of our new album, and in my opinion, it also represents what we’ve created musically with our new songs. We are thrilled with the result! The title track is, of course, about the sport itself, and it also represents us as a band: we are a team that takes the stage together night after night to conquer the audience. We do it with great motivation, in an energetic yet powerful manner. Qualities that are also found in football and ultimately bridge the gap with our music.”
