Pantera is set to headline their Summer 2023 North America tour with Lamb of God as special guests. To warm up, they are playing a few US festival shows, including Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida on May 20.
Their setlist at Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally included 11 songs, starting with “Mouth for War” and featuring classics like “I’m Broken,” “A New Level,” “Walk,” and “Cowboys From Hell.” The highlight of the night was the band’s first performance of “Suicide Note Pt. II” since the reunion.
Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante filled in for late members Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. Benante and Gary Holt of Exodus recently talked about the challenges of stepping in for legendary guitarists like Vinnie Paul and Jeff Hanneman of Slayer.
Overall, the US fans were thrilled to see Pantera back on stage after such a long hiatus.
Charlie Benante of Pantera commented on the negative messages he receives from fans regarding the band’s reunion after the loss of Dimebag and Vinnie. He expressed his disappointment with such comments, stating that they can ruin his day. Benante believes that people who make such comments don’t realize the impact they can have on others. He urges people to exercise restraint and find a way to deal with their emotions constructively. In his experience, he has never seen as much negativity as he has witnessed in recent months.
